Septemberfest

At the October 3, 2007 meeting, the board of directors of the Simsbury Chamber of Commerce voted to discontinue sponsoring the Septemberfest event.

Septemberfest began in 1989 as a fundraiser for the Simsbury Chamber to open a local office, to grow the organization, to provide benefits to our members and to bring attention to the newly created Iron Horse Boulevard.

Over the past twenty years, our membership has grown from 150 members to over 500 member companies and is now the 6th largest chamber of commerce in the Hartford region. Through fiscal responsibility and proper management of both the office and the Septemberfest fundraiser, the Simsbury Chamber has set aside funds to secure the organization's growth. And as you are aware, Iron Horse Boulevard is now a vibrant component to our downtown.

Since 1989 what was once a small and manageable fundraiser has now grown to a complex multi-day festival. It is now time to take a step back and look at the use of our organization's resources and to review the original mission of the event. It is with regret that we bring you this news today but the board of directors is both excited and committed to exploring new opportunities to promote your business and the town of Simsbury.

It has been a great pleasure and opportunity for us to have worked with all of our sponsors, participants, vendors, restaurants, community volunteers and the town of Simsbury since 1989 to host this annual festival. The board of directors looks forward to the future and will continue to count on your membership support. We thank you all and know that we couldn't have done it without you.
